You might
be that person out there who has been trying to get over your ex, but since you
deeply loved him/her and had much trust, commitment, love and hope for a better
life together, you have had distress letting it go. Trust me, I know the feeling and it is not
easy to let go; more so, if you had given it your all.
One day a
friend of mine was telling me his story. He had gone through a lot in his
relationship. He was dating a 27 year old lady. At first, they had a deep connection
and their relationship was flowing smoothly. Well, that’s how sweet the
relationship is at the beginning; the honeymoon stage; everything is perfect at
that moment and it feels so good to have someone who cares for you. However,
nothing will ever be perfect or smooth there has to be hiccups along the way. Things
began to get out of hand and they would fight; it reached a point they could
not see each other face to face. He was burning inside and he could not help
it; he had to let go.
When it
comes to relationships, we go through hurt and pain. However, that should not
stop us from loving again, instead, it should help us be strong enough to move
on. Despite how hurt we may feel of our past relationship, forgiveness is the
key! I know and believe that forgiveness does not come easy; it is a step at a
time. The moment you accept the past hurt and let go of the bitter feelings
then you are ready to move on to another step.
Happiness will be your daily bread.
Rick
Warren once said, “Those who hurt you in the past cannot continue to hurt you
now unless you hold on to the pain through resentment.” Your past is past!
Nothing will change it. You are only hurting yourself with your bitterness. For
your own sake, learn from it and then let it go.”
I loved
that quote because it has pure truth in it. The problem with most us is letting
go of the past pain and hurt, we tend to hold on to it and keep blaming people.
Some
people get to date someone immediately after a break up as a way to get over
their ex’s. Believe me that’s hell you are getting yourself into; you won’t
feel the pain at that moment but you won’t be happy either. Rushing into
another relationship immediately means you are just doing it for pleasure. What
if the other party falls in love with you? Trust me that will make you feel
worse. It is good to take time and give yourself little space to figure out
what exactly you want.
Write down
the qualities of that lady or man you want and be patient to meet with
different people. It is always good to open your heart for new possibilities; you
will meet that person God prepared for you. When you meet him/her you will
deeply feel it. Give it a try!
